A pantomime horse is a theatrical representation of a horse or other quadruped by two actors in a single costume, who cooperate and synchronize their movements to make it look convincing. Naturally, the horse is a clumsy and comical act, and the same principle can be used in portraying other animals on stage. From the book “We are all equal”, by Finn Nygaard.
